Donald Rutter, 51, of Tuckerton is wanted for attempted murder and weapons charges, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.

Rutter is a suspect in a shooting that involved bodily injury on Tuesday night in Little Egg Harbor Township, Billhimer said.

“Rutter has not yet been apprehended (and) is currently a fugitive from justice,'' Billhimer said on Wednesday.

About 7:30 p.m., police responded to a 9-1-1 call about a shooting at Jarvis Marine on Radio Road. Patrol officers found Thomas Jarvis, 55, of Little Egg Harbor with an apparent gunshot wound to his midsection, Billhimer said.

Jarvis was taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition on Wednesday morning.

Authorities were unable to find Rutter despite an exhaustive search of the surrounding area by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Regional SWAT Team, Major Crime Unit and High Tech Crime Unit, as well as Little Egg Harbor Township police, state police, park police, the U.S. Marshals Service, Ocean County Sheriff’s Office and Tuckerton Police.

Anyone with information about Rutter’s whereabouts is urged to call Detective Denis Mitchell of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office at 732-929-2027.
